This is the hardest page for me to share — but the most important.

My mother was exposed to toxic mold in our home for years. What it did to her was more than physical — it slowly broke her body, her spirit, and her ability to fight back.

Mold weakened her immune system so severely that she couldn’t heal properly. She became sick constantly. She was in and out of the hospital, and she suffered from deep mental health changes — losing parts of herself we once knew so well. She was placed in psych wards multiple times because no one saw the real cause of her decline. It wasn’t just age or stress. It was mold.

Nursing Home Neglect

 Nursing Home NEGLECT

To protect her, we moved her to nursing care. But the system failed her again.

She was placed in Sterling Care South Mountain (MD) and Hagerstown Healthcare Center — both of which neglected her badly:

Eventually, 911 had to be called after she became unresponsive. She was transferred to Meritus Medical CNTR in Hagerstown MD, where she received little better treatment. By then, her body was shutting down. She developed sepsis, lost her ability to breathe, and was put on a ventilator — where she remained until she passed on April 18, 2025.

 Even Her Doctor Failed Her

Her primary doctor in Frederick — Dr. Haque — refused to believe mold was making her sick. Even after we showed mold tests, a toxicology report, and hired a medical expert witness to confirm it, he dismissed her cries and told her it was “all in her head.” But the but the truth of the matter was that my mother was dying right in front of him, and he chose to ignore it. Instead of listening to her symptoms, her test results, and the medical experts who supported her case, he dismissed her pain and blamed her. Years later, he was indicted for sexual misconduct 2024 & 2025..but long before that, he failed as a doctor. He failed to protect her, to believe her, and to act—when her life depended on it.

 In Her Memory

Mom, I love you. You deserved better. I watched you fight every day — for your life, for your dignity, for us. And you kept going long after others would’ve stopped. You are the reason I’ll never give up. I will not stop speaking your truth. I will not let this happen to another family.
