The system that’s supposed to protect us — from housing to healthcare — has failed us at every level.
Landlords are allowed to ignore dangerous maintenance issues for years, especially in poor communities and Section 8 housing. The building code department is either overwhelmed or complicit. Tenants are left sick, broke, and traumatized.
And when we finally speak up?
We’re told to just move. To stop complaining. To “prove it.”
The landlord refused to take mold tests seriously and blamed our health on “pre-existing issues”
The county housing and code enforcement offices ignored evidence, complaints, and desperate emails
My mother was placed in nursing care to escape the mold — only to be neglected and abused at the facilities that were supposed to protect her
The hospital system delayed proper care, ignored mold diagnoses, and ultimately let her die in pain
Frederick has no mold law — and slumlords take advantage of that every single day
We are not invisible. We are not disposable. This system is supposed to protect the vulnerable — not bury them.
It’s broken. And we’re done suffering quietly.
♦️ Tenant Testimonies
“I watched my dog’s health slowly decline. She went from playful to barely moving. The vet said it could be the air quality. I had no idea the mold was this serious.”
— Anonymous Tenant, Building A
“My 5-year-old son has nonverbal autism. After we moved into the new unit, his behavior worsened. We didn’t know the unit was also filled with mold. I feel like I failed to protect him.”
— Jessica Johnson
“The ceiling was leaking for months. We kept getting sick. The landlord never did a full cleanup—just patched it up. I finally moved out, but my health hasn’t recovered.”
— Former Resident, Frederick, MD
“I begged them to do something. They ignored me until my cat died. Then they laughed like pets didn’t matter.”
— Current Tenant
⚠️Property Management
Ignored complaints. Refused to remove mold properly. Let families and pets suffer while collecting rent.
🗣️ The Landlord
Knew the property was unsafe. Still accepted housing voucher funds while doing the bare minimum or nothing at all.
⚠️ Building Code Enforcement
Received proof — including lab reports and photos — and still claimed the units were “safe.” Let children live in toxic environments.
🚫 Health Departments
Told us mold wasn’t “their responsibility.” Refused to test. Gave no guidance. Left families to figure it out alone.
📣City of Frederick & Frederick County
Chose to protect landlords over tenants. Created loopholes for property owners instead of enforcing health and safety.
🚫 Section 8 / HUD Housing Authorities
Kept sending taxpayer money to landlords who weren’t maintaining livable units. Offered no real protection to the tenants they’re supposed to serve.

While battling mold, harassment, and court cases, I also had to live through daily conditions that no one should accept as normal — but management refused to fix them, no matter how many times they were reported.
Roaches and rats inside the laundry room — making it unsafe and disgusting just to wash clothes
Uncut high grass around the complex, forcing me to walk my dogs through areas where they would come back with ticks
Overflowing dumpsters that are never properly maintained — attracting pests and contaminating shared outdoor spaces
Doors and windows that aren’t sealed — allowing insects to freely enter the units and foyer, making it impossible to keep pests out
Sewage or AC drainage leaking outside my unit, especially on the back deck, where bacteria and slime build up and the smell makes it impossible to sit outside
Common areas like the foyer are never cleaned — dirty, neglected, and unfit for any tenant to walk through daily
No secure or sanitary waste management — the entire environment becomes a breeding ground for roaches, flies, and
⚠️ Mold Cover-Up and Unlawful Entry (June 2025)
Even after official mold tests showed toxic contamination in my bedroom — right next to my child’s toddler bed — Noah’s Frederick did not follow professional remediation standards. On June 20, 2025, while I was out, Project Manager Greg entered the apartment without my consent, falsely claiming to be sending “a third-party mold contractor.” It turned out to be the same unlicensed maintenance man, who provided no identification or plan of action. My son, who was home at the time, asked them questions, but they gave no helpful explanation. I was never informed or consulted.
Then, on June 23, 2025, while I was out getting groceries, the maintenance man entered my bedroom without permission and spray-painted over the toxic black mold — directly over the very area the professionals flagged in my $500 mold test report. Not only was this an illegal entry, but they also got paint all over my personal belongings and furniture, and lied when I confronted them — saying they were only there “to fix the toilet.” This was not mold cleanup. This was a cover-up.
Greg never responded to the mold test results, never provided a timeline or certified remediation plan, and continues to send fake emails pretending licensed contractors are inspecting the damage — but no one coming to my unit has ever shown certification or proper credentials. They have ignored me, ignored my son, and ignored the truth.
